A Rumor

Natural mineral water is water enriched with essential minerals, like magnesium, calcium, potassium, chlorides, sulfates, and bicarbonates. These minerals provide many health benefits to the heart, bones, brain etc.  Besides being so beneficial for health it is a victim of rumors that drinking much of it can cause health blunders.  These rumors are not based on any evidence or related research study which verifies its truthfulness.

The problem arises due to the sale of various carbonates waters which have artificial flavors, the addition of extra sugars and an artificial addition of minerals in them, with the label of natural mineral water.  It is not only fooling our innocent customers but also forbidden according to law. All these artificial treated water brands make it difficult to safeguard the image of natural mineral water. It is important to learn the difference between actual natural mineral water and artificial treated water.  Natural mineral water is one which we get from underground sources like wells or springs. This water is naturally pure as it passes through various layers of earth, filtering the contamination if may have during its journey.

Opposite to this artificial mineral water is one which undergoes processes like distillation or osmosis, to eliminate contamination’s and make it safe for drinking.  But is it really safe for consumption?

Demineralization ( mineral water)

Furthermore, consumption of demineralized water or distilled water may possess health risks in long run. Low mineral content leads to mineral compromised situations which affect our bones, heart, brain etc. Low calcium content leads to various bone related disorders like osteomalacia, osteoporosis and affects bone strength and bone density. Magnesium deficient content decreases the wellness of bones and muscles. It affects muscle contractions, leading to abnormalities in a cardiovascular frame of body and high blood glucose levels. Low potassium content leads to improper electrolyte balance. All these artificial treatments like distillation make the water pure but along with impurities, it also destroys the goodwill of water. Distillation of water eliminates out the mineral content of water along with toxic substances.  Therefore, demineralized water is not advised for consumption on regular basis.

Too much of anything is bad

Drinking too much water may lead to water intoxication which is true for any kind of water.  Too much of everything is bad. A normal body requires 2-3 liters of water in a day, above this level, it overburdens our kidneys. However, loss of minerals like potassium and sodium may occur due to abnormal consumption. Too much consumption may lead to swelling of cells due to electrolytes imbalance, stress your brain and heart. Water intoxication also leads to weak muscles and fatigue. But, this is true for all the water whether tap, natural or carbonated.

Final conclusion

Drinking these artificially flavored waters may provide hydration but these waters do not possess any health advantages. Therefore, it is necessary to choose your health partner carefully. Natural mineral water is free from any external contamination. It is full of minerals. No application of artificial processings and treatments. So choose wisely, read labels and decide your health partners by reading minerals content of water on labels. JAL- Natural mineral water is a fair choice.
