Water Filtration Systems: Choosing The Right Mineral Water

Water Filtration Systems: Choosing The Right Mineral Water

Water is a staple source of liquid for the population worldwide. It is the one thing that is common in all cultures and customs. The use of water extends beyond just a source to quench thirst, and it is a means of survival. It is a prerequisite for all essential bodily functions and lie processes. It is the natural environment for many flora and fauna present on earth. Water is the one liquid that sets earth apart from the rest of the planets. Hence choosing the suitable mineral water for life processes is of utmost importance for any living being.

Mineral water

Mineral water or bottled water available from many labels and brands is a good source of minerals and other microelements. Mineral water in bottles is fortified to be rich in essential nutrients like magnesium, calcium, iron, sodium, bicarbonates, and zinc, and these are all required for proper body functioning.

  • Magnesium: Essential for normal muscle and body functioning. When it is deficient, the body suffers from weakness, nausea, and other symptoms.
  • Calcium: Calcium is an essential mineral for the bones and teeth, and it ensures the proper health of bones and joints. The consequences could be minor to major when it is in deficit, from weak joints to osteoporosis.
  • Iron: As it is well known, iron deficiency can be the sole reason for anaemia in women and children. Pale eyes and skin are common symptoms.
  • Sodium: Sodium is an element abundantly required for transporting electrons and other macromolecules within the body, and it is also involved in the transport channels for muscle contractions. When it is lacking in the body, all functions are affected.

All these roles of minerals point to why choosing suitable mineral water is essential.

Water quality and filter systems

With several different water filters available, choosing which provides the best quality water can be laborious. The standard Water Quality Guideline is set up to make choosing the best quality water filter system easier. The Water Quality Guideline is set up on various health and quality parameters such as pH of the water, mineral balance, oxygen content, clarity and turbidity, and nitrate concentrations.

  • The pH of water: Water used to drink should ideally be in an optimum pH range of neutral, 7. When the value varies from 7 to acidic or alkaline ranges, it indicates the presence of pollutants, which may not be ideal for consumption.
  • Oxygen content: Another critical factor for drinking water is its oxygen content. A low oxygen content usually points to more bacteria in the water.

Several factors make water healthy enough to drink. When choosing filters, always look for a filter system authorized under the water quality guidance or index. This will ensure that you and your family get your water needs met most healthily and safely.
